Answers:
you could try useing a good quality thick lining paper

Yes you can! Thank goodness I hear you cry. You can buy this paper that's quite thick and it's for papering over really bad plaster and crap wallpaper. You can paint it afterwards too. Ask at B&Q or Homebase.
Don't do it, like you said, it will look all bubbly. Have you considered putting paneling over the wall? That would be a quick and easy solution.
It would look terrible - you will have to strip if off it you don't want the woodchip.
you really need to get rid of it. its not a good plan to wallpaper over it as it be will bumpy and lumpy. you could get it off quickly using a steamer but maybe it would be quicker to paint it with emulsion and forget youve got it
Nightmare! Don't do it!! As soon as the woodchip gets wet it all comes down!!! Moving would be a more simple solution!! Someone above mentioned panelling. Good idea!
no man dnt be daft it'll look stupid probably leave bubbles you best gettin it plastered with wood chip you ll notice the wood effect underneath
yes providing trhe woodchip is stuck firmly, best bet would be to apply a coat of watered down builders adhesive to the woodchip first[wickes about £10-00 for 5litres]
It`s not going to look any good if you wallpaper over it.I know it`s not the answer you are looking for but the only sure thing is to take it all off.A steamer, patience and a bit of elbow grease will do the job. I had the same problem and invited some kind friends over and plied them with alcohol and food it was gone in no time. There is some satisfaction when you do it properly and taking it off is the cheapest solution. If your really against the idea of stripping the walls there is a product from poly cell it`s a form of ready mixed plaster that is made for this purpose but it may be costly especially if it is the entire house.Take it off man.
Yes, if you want the fresh paper to seem as it has warts. Take the old paper off. Woodchip is difficult to remove. However, hire a steam stripper, or find someone in the trade who does small jobs, and get him/her to stip the walls for you.Paper over the woodchip if you wish, but be prepared for a heavy dose of regret.
YOU COULD BUT IT WIL BE BUMPY AND LOOK NAFF
STEAM IT OFF WOULD BE BETTER
