Kitchen help (painting cabinets)?

Question:I remodeled my kitchen and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with painting their cabinets? I am thinking about painting them with a very little lavender tint because I painted my kitchen with a very light tint of green. It is so light you almost think it is white in the light. I think it will be cute but my husband says cabinets are ugly painted. right now they are stained with an orange tint and that i think is very ugly.
Any experience with this situation and what should I do.

I have painted my cabnets they look good. Make sure you wash them good with some TSP (this can be found in the paint section at the store). It is best to remove the doors and hardware. Wash all the cabinets sand lightly ,use a good paint primer , and a good quality of paint. As kitchen cabnets get much use do not go cheap on the paint.

i also think the lavender would be cute but you should also consider sanding them and restaining them with oak or a lighter colored stain. Anything is better than orange cabinets.
check out hgtv.com they have some cute ideas.

and no painted cabinets dont look ugly!
Make sure you use a good primer first. That's the key to the paint sticking to whatever furniture your going to paint. Some primers don't require sanding first. I just painted a hutch that was stained with a gloss and the primer covered awesome and the paint stuck just as well where I didn't sand.
When I painted my kitchen cabinets, I removed the doors and lay them flat across supporting slats of wood. I painted the backs first so that they would bear any marks that might form while I was painting the fronts. Naturally, all hardware was removed and set aside to be replaced at the end of the process.

With the doors removed, the cabinets were quite easy to paint. I decided not to paint the insides of the cabinets, but that is just one option. I did paint the leading edges of each shelf.

Naturally, all surfaces to be painted were prepared by being cleaned with a degreaser and then sanded.

Hope your kitchen looks good.
I've painted kitchen cabinets in the past...quick and cheap way to change the whole look of the kitchen. The secret is in the preparation.

First, take off the cupboard doors and hardware. Then rough them up with sandpaper. Next, wash them well with TSP - at any paint store. Then paint away! Best to use a good quality paint...as it will have to stand up to alot in a kitchen.

Your colour scheme sounds wonderful...have fun with it!
