Any lighting suggestions for a finished basement that is used as a den?

Question:Room is rectangular with a fireplace and brick wall on one end and a door that opens to another room on the other end. Walls are white. Carpet is gray/blue. I want to create a bright, welcoming space.

Answers:
Try Track Lighting. It is easy to install & the lights can be moved/aimed where you want the light to shine. Some are even very stylish & they use less power while putting out a lot of light.

Recessed lighting is a good way to light a dark space.
Putting in an egress window will give you lots of natural light as well as an exit in case of fire.
Soften the contrast produced by window and the dark surrounding wall by focusing artificial light onto the latter.
I like the recessed lighting suggestion. I would also incorporate lamps for when you don't need so much light (i.e. if you are watching TV or reading).
