Does Feng Shui really work? How fast?
Question:I know I need to get rid of clutter and clean up my house for one thing, and I was wondering about feng shui. How does it work, and how fast will I see results?
Does anyone have simple tips I can use?
Answers:
Yes, I believe Feng Shui does work, definitely, but like all mystical things, usually not in the way you expect! How fast would depend on how cluttered your home is and how blocked the energy is. For anything I've tried, the fastest result I had was within 2 days - which I thought was pretty good. Quick, simple tips - ~get rid of all clutter ~ clean and then clean some more ~ fresh, green, round leaved plants and flowers everywhere ~ if you can afford it, put a little running fountain somewhere in the top left sector of your home (as you walk in the door). Decluttering feng shui works fairly quickly. Mirrors help too, making sure that enty/exit ways are clutter free is good feng shui. Also, with feng shui less is more in a good way. Of course I know it isn't always easy to de clutter, but try this, get a tote or tub to put in a large amount of "clutter items" and take out when you have a specific place to put an item or when you need touse it, then if after 1 or 2 months items still left in there go though to make sure no super sentimental value items are in there & take what's left to goodwill or someplace.

feng shui is a chinese art about bringing luck, harmony, balance, etc to your life by rearranging your furniture to some degree.. example have your bed face the rising sun or something
basically it is just home improving your house in a certain way
Feng Shui works just like any other system- only if you want it to.
The best way to get rid of garbage for one thing is to know that your house reflects your mind- if it is cluttered, so is your belfry. Keep things organised, clean to the best of your ability, and try to keep only what you need- then you can focus on your life, not the things you have.
Get rid of EVERYthing you haven't seen in a year. Put photos in a straight line, all facing the same direction, in clear boxes or albums. Get rid of closets, say hello to see-through. You want to constantly be aware of your load of stuff- if you have too much, get rid of it. Out of sight isn't out of mind- it will always come back later, so get rid of it now.
Good luck, and think clarity.
You probably don't use 2/3 of what you have.
I got the Feng Shui for dummies book from the library. A combination of decluttering, moving furniture, painting and adding plants and crystals have made several rooms much more inviting and usable.
It is well worth reviewing a Feng Shui book or two. Take the things in it that make sense to you and see how it works.
Good Luck!
Because Feng Shui is based on balance and harmony, even incorporating a few of it's principles and make a room more pleasing to the eye and feel more comfortable.
Here's a page with the Feng Shui Control Cycle, Support Cycle and a nice chart that lists the colors, seasons, direction, etc of the Five Elements.
