Can you wallpaper over wall paper?
Question:most of my house is wall paper, some of the rooms were painted but you can see the lines pretty bad. I was thinking of wallpapering my bathroom differently, and just wondering if i could just do it over the current wallpaper
Answers:
You can, but its iffy. It may cause the old to peel or the old might show thru the new. Best to remove it. Score the old and wipe down with water (not the recommended way, but is most effective) give it a few mins then peel away.
the best way to do it is to remove it. you can buy a wallpaper stripper at your local home improvement store.
If you can you should ALWAYS remove the old wallpaper first. There are ways, I've done it.. Talk to your local Lowes or home depot. If you can't remove it (say it's papered right on to sheet rock, grrr, people do that) then remove all the loose pieces and pick a reallllllly thick high quality and unfortunatly expensive wall paper. I've done that too. Good luck.
Belize is correct. If you do try, put a primer coat of paint on it first to seal it. Use textured paper or the lines will show through your new paper also. They also sell wallpaper liner...I don't like it but some do.
you could but it would look better and last longer if you remove the exsisting wallpaper.
Yes you can but get good walpaper paste at the local walmart just for paper over paper
You can repaper over old wallpaper but now a days it is so easy to remove old paper that is what I did.
