Where did the current fashion for square sinks come from?

More of a European design. I love it. And yes it does utelise the space more efficiently and they look great. They've been around for at least the last 6 years, but only just recently taken off. Used to be only for people who could afford them as they were very expensive and supplied by upmarket specialty stores. Now they're everywhere.
