Cabinet instillation costs?
Question:I live in an Illinois city of about 100,000 - what should i expect a resonable cabinet instillation cost estimate to be? i have a medium size kitchen.

when I was still in my previous house, I wanted to replace the cabinets in the kitchen (the kitchen was not too big, but I dont rememebr the size).
I called in a couple of carpenters and asked for the cheapest white cabinets. I thought these will look good and they last long. The estimate for the complete cabinets (top and bottom cabinets) plus installation and taking away the old cabinets was $6000-7000.
Then I have heard that this guy I know who lives in the city (Boston) did the same thing, but he has a very small kitchen in his Condo. He asked for the cheapest possible cabinets and he got an estimate of $4000.
I know its kind of vage because I haven't given you the sizes of the kitchens (dont remember the exact numbers).

I don't know if you are talking about just having cabinets installed, or if you are buying a whole set of cabinets plus the installation costs. I just ordered new cabinets for a house we're building. The kitchen is L shaped, not huge and I went with a cherry wood which is more expensive than, say, oak. Including new countertops and installation, my total is around $12,000. I had priced similar cabinets at Lowe's and Home Depot and both were in the same ballpark, so that would probably be a good guess.
