Do plants (seeds and seedlings mainly) need night (not light)?

Question:Meaning: Do I have to turn off my greenhouse lights at night, or will the plants do just as well if I leave the lights on 24/7?

Answers:
need to have night and day because the gardens will not be all light or all dark.

most definitly, they need a break from the sun, and the cool temp. of the night. All living organisms need the night and day. See it was all thought out in this crazy plan before we came about.
I believe they've evolved to go grow with light and day. Tulips will open blooms when sunlight/warmth is there and close at night. This is connected with insect activity (bees).

I'd think that energy would be saved by "resting" at night or different functions of the plant would become active at night, depending on their evolution.
Plants respond differently to different ratios of light and dark, too much light can be harmful dark periods are necessary for growth.
Depends on the plant. Especially if you are cultivating Marijuana the time would be either 24on/0off or 16on/8off. This would be of course if you live in an area where marijuana cultivation is legal of course. I do not condone or advocate ANYTHING ILLICIT. DO YOU HEAR ME GOOGLE? Plants do need a night cycle though.
No,set up an automatic timer. All plants need to have sleep-time. Need the darkness. Don't ask my why, but they need time to do their resting just like me and you do. Do your plants a favour, and turn off the lights.Good-night
