Help in Deciding New Door Color?
Question:I have a large 2 story, 30 year old house. The top section is white aluminum with maroon shutters on 3 windows. The bottom section that has the current white front door with red trim and 2 side windows is surrounded by dark red, or maroon brick.
I want to install a new, fancy front door from Lowes or another place. What color would you suggest? My opinion now is of a medium oak. Opinions please? Thanks.

Selecting a new door is going to be all about curb appeal. And to faciliate that, you have one of two options, the first would be to get one of the Masonite entry doors that have a glass design incorporated in it. I would personally, go that route because of the quality of Masonite doors. The second option to be to get a new more ornate door and have it painted to match your shutters or purchase the shutters and doors together. That would be a very inexpensive way to add value to your home.
i like medium oak
Golden Oak is my preference.
The best way would be to take a good clear picture with you when you are shopping of your house. Many stores have free decorating services. Also go out in new area's and check out houses as well as older neighborhood's. Look online and you'll find many sites with doors and pictures. A front door should be happy , impressive, and say welcome. Doors should have have great personality's! They speak for you.
Oak would be the best with windows with a white glaze or take it a step further and add stained glass the colors of your home!
go to sherwinwilliams.com they have a great interactive color matching program. you can compare the colors you have to other colors to see how they look & print the info on the ones you like to take in to where ever you are buying the paint to have them match it
golden oak..
The front door usually matches the trim of the house, being your shutters, but who wants a maroon door. Or, it could be painted a contrasting color, which I would prefer the white door against the dark brick. I would buy a new shiny gold plated door handle with a matching gold kick plate, installed on the bottom of the door and put two matching flower pots filled with colorful flowers on each side of the door. Instant curb appeal and cheaper than buying a whole new frontdoor!
