Question:I am in north east PA. The home in a stick built house. The outside wall cavities are 5 1/2". The insulation is kraft faced batts r19. The attic is r38 kraft faced batt. What I really need to know is what I should charge per sq/ft. to install. I just need a range. Thanks.
Answers:
Contact a home store or company who does insulating as a business and ask what they charge. No need to tell them why,
they may assume you want to do it for yourself. Professionals.
A good rule of thumb: figure how much the insulation will cost for the area to be done. Double that and divide by 3. Such as: insulation will cost 100.00 X 2 = 200/3 = $66.00 for the job.
Secondly, you could estimate how long it will take, figure how much your time is worth, by the hour. you think it will take 2 hours, maybe 45.00 is a better price than 66.00.
In the end, the size of the room (or house), needs to be a key factor.
The final test is: Would you pay that amount?
