What's a good price for a built-in closet in a room? help!! :(?
Question:Here's the thing, we're renovating part of the house and now i wanna add a closet to my room. The architect wants to charge us $750 for it and i thought she was pretty crazy! what do i know... :/ help please
Answers:
If $750 is for the design alone -it is a bit silly. And if $750 is for the finished job, it might be OK if the closet is a decent "walk-in." I gather from what you wrote that you've hired the architect for design of the complete renovation, and now you want to revise the project to add the closet. So, again, if $750 is the total extra cost -design and construction- you're fine. But if for design only, then YOU draw in what you want and give it to the contractor to do. That is, unless the contractor works for the architect, in which case get a different contractor.
The material for the closet itself, assuming standard doors and storage fixture inside should be no more than $300.00. Hope this helps.
The price sounds reasonable to me. If you don't want to pay for the extra closet, you might want to consider buying a wardrobe.
