I need some great ideas for a super efficient elementary school student's desk :-)?

Question:Hey everyone. I would love some awesome ideas here. I plan on building/assembling a complete student's workstation for my nephew. Right now his homework area is basically the living room table, which is hectic. His papers are in the coffee table's drawer and on the shelves underneath, stuffed every which way.

He's in first grade and needs a little boost to get caught up with the other children. I'd like to make a workstation for him that is efficient and organized so that he can concentrate on schoolwork without worrying about anything else.

Any suggestions on how I can build the desk in the most efficient manner, allowing him to thrive developmentally. Accessories I should throw into the package to help him be organized? Study aids, perhaps I could hang charts on the wall relating to math or spelling.

I also need this workstation to last and grow with him throughout elementary school.

Your help's much appreciated. Thanks all!

Answers:
u can design an L type or U type arrangement.
with the L shaped, one part is the desk, the other is a detachable multipurpose cabinet wherin all types of shelving is reinforced.
with the U shaped, 2 parts are designed as desk--one for writing, one for his computer--and 1 part the multi purpose cabinet or u can configure between two.

the multi purpose open shelf should cover spaces for books, ballpens, papers, glues... and all deemed necessary for gradeschoolers. you can even put a whiteboard and a corkboard for his future use.

I'd like to mention that they sell desks at Ikea that are really good. They're just like the ones in elementary classrooms, so you can move them around real easy.

Key to organization: folders and labels. :)

I was helped a lot when I was younger through workbooks I'd buy everytime I went to the dollar store, I had at least four Mickey Mouse ones that were just for handwriting. :) My younger brother, who's seven, has a couple, too, and they help a lot.

Spelling and grammar rules would make for good wall decor. Basic math rules, too.

Hope I was of some help. :)
