Please advise the pros & cons of laminate flooring wi area rugs throughout the house.?
Question:I recently had it installed in my kitchen and I love it.
Answers:
Quite contrary to the ideas of some, quality laminate flooring will increase a homes value over carpet, although not nearly as much as hardwood. Laminate flooring goes well in most rooms of the home. Bathrooms are the exception, excessive moisture being a hazard. Many people prefer the comfort of carpet in bedrooms as well. Living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens and hallways are the best places for laminate. Using area rugs over laminate is a good idea too. Most people who have laminate through the majority of their home find area rugs helpful in decorating and breaking up space. Area rugs are not primarily used to cover ugly floor but to accent and add colour to hardwood or laminate.
I'm a little confused by your question.. You had laminate flooring installed in your kitchen, and are wondering the pro's and cons of installing it throughout the rest of your house? I would say it really depends on the condition of your original flooring. If the carpet is still in good condition, then I would avoid putting down laminate flooring, as it lessens the overall value of your house. Also, if you have original hardwood floors that are in poor condition, I would advise you to pay to have your floors refinished, rather than covering over with laminate. Laminate flooring generally comes across looking very cheap.
As for using area rugs overtop of the laminate, I would REALLY advise against this. If the floor is new and looks good, then covering over it with an area rug would be an extreme decorating mistake. Area rugs should be used to cover floors that are otherwise in poor condition.
