Two samples of iron are placed outdoors. One sample is painted, the other isn't. What would the conditions be?

Not sure what you are looking for...
The sample that was not painted might rust...do to oxidation.
The other sample that has been painted might rust too, but it will take more time because it has less oxygen getting to it. Hope this is what you are looking for.
