How many yards of fabric will I need to make a blanket for a queen size bed?

Question:I am making a no sew fleece blanket, how many yards to I need to buy?

Answers:
I used 2 yards for my son's twin size bed and it hung over slightly on all sides. So based on that i would say your looking at 5 yards at least. Maybe more if you want it to hang over the bed more.

The best way to tell is to have someone help you measure the bed and how much you want to hang down on all sides once you get the measurement in inches /12 to get the number of feet. then /3 to get the number of yards you'll need.

EX. the bed is 144 inches long/12 = 12/3 = 4 yards

then you have to figure out how much to make it across the bed.

EX. if The bolt of fabric is 56" (not all are the same).

your bed is 168 in wide = 168"/56" = 3

now take your width and lenght and mult. together

3x4 - 12 yards total

make sur to take into consideration the cuts for the fringe!!

6, depending on how wide the material is. You can call your nearest sewing center and they can tell you exactly on the phone.
