Any ceiling fan experts out there?
Question:We're building a new house and I would like ceiling fans. The ones in our current home make noise and I cannot sleep! Is there a brand that is VERY quiet? I also read that a four blade fan works better than a five?
Answers:
I've installed a number of ceiling fans and the quietest one was made by Casablanca Fan Company (www.casablancafanco.com). The motor was very quiet, the fan was very balanced and it moved air around like crazy. If you need one for the bathroom Panasonic fans are by far the quietest.
i would suggest to go to a home improvement store and shop around you will find a large selection of very good quiet ones..Lowe's is the best place to go!!
5 blades give more air flow. And most brands do not make noise anymore. Just don't buy a cheap off brand.
Most fans except those made in China are pretty quiet and you hardly ever notice the motor. Only problem is the installation. If its not installed right and the balance is off, that's when the sound comes in. So long as its well balanced and well installed, you'll be fine.
4 or 5 blades.. varies. You've really got to be under the fan with it switched on to feel the difference. Some 4-blade designs are really good. Others aren't. It all depends on the design of the blade and whether its really been 'engineered' to give maximum push of air or whether some designer just designed it for aesthetics.
