Help with painting rooms!?
Question:what colors do you think would look nice in my bathroom and bedroom...any colors that you have seen and think look nice? I love all colors and have trouble making decisions like that. Please dont just say a color and thats it, maybe tell my why you think that color should be chosen? I have a master bedroom, without a lot of natural light, so it is usually pretty dark and my bathroom is very small. Thank you in advance...pictures or websites giving examples would be very appreciated.

Does your bathroom have ceramic tile shower or counter tops, or perhaps a tile floor. What color are the fixtures. The things that stay and are fixtures there could determine what colors look good. I have three bathrooms in my home. One is wall papered with a sage green and burgundy plaid (sounds strange, looks great). I chose this because the tile in there is an outdated color - olive green, which perked up and looked great after adding the spark of the plaid paper. One bathroom is "wheat gold" with biscuit colored (beige) fixtures and I hung a burgundy shower curtain (vinyl) over the tub. Then I purchased some striped heavy fabric at a home center in gold, burgundy and dark blue with a shiny gold thread that runs through it. I hung this almost at the ceiling level and caught it over to one side with a huge tassel and rope tieback. Looks elegant and pretty. A $15.99 uplight from a discount store on the counter and some candles in coordinating colors, coupled with towels in the colors of the stripe make it a dandy place to wash your face. The "powder room" had a textured paper that was a pale yellow, but made it look kind of old. I painted it a great sage green which is one of my favorite current colors. The paint was a $3.00 gallon of "oops!" paint which I purchased at Lowe's because someone else changed their mind on it after having it mixed. A cherry framed mirror and antique bronze hardware make it look very classical and attractive. There are any number of color combinations which look great in baths. There are whimsical touches like aquarium colors as well as beautiful relaxing spa colors - soft blues and greens or soft neutrals which are calming. Just pick out colors that make you feel good and enjoy.
What color is the flooring in those rooms? I would paint a color to compliment them. If you had green carpet you wouldn't want to paint red.
if you love all colors and the rooms are small and dark...then try a light neutral in an eggshell finish...it will be easy to clean and will reflect some light...like a very soft blue-ish white or a parchament or linen then use your colors for your furnishings since you like all colors then you can change and rotate and mix up the look whenever without spending a lot of $$
I am a professionl painter and one on the best color schemes i have seen was using a sage green on the walls and a color called ocean air a really light blue on the ceiling with the trim and doors done in white.
Don't go for color, go for marble tile... in black, in that way if their is a splash or dirt or whatever it can be cleaned off in a instant. It looks fantastic at our work place, I spend many hours there.. lol. Kidding
but its contemporary, sleek and very nice.
Bedrooms usually like restful colors like soft blues, greens and yellows. The smaller the room, typically the lighter and softer the colors should be. Painting one wall a deeper shade (choose one or two blocks over on the paint chip from the hardware store) can add visual interest. Usually it's the wall opposite the door, where the head of the bed is.
In small rooms, painting the entire wall (or all the walls) a vibrant color can overwhelm the rest of the space and make it feel small. For the bathroom, look for a natural line -- at the counter or windowsill, maybe -- and paint below that line a darker shade than above that line. A simple wallpaper border helps to pull the colors together.
In that small bathroom, a busy shower curtain can overwhelm, too. If the curtain has lots going on, keep everything else extra simple.
If your bedroom doesn't get a lot of light and the bath is small, I'd stick with the lighter colors to give the rooms more light and make them look larger. Something my wife did was to use a very, very pale green and then a tone that is what I'd call a light sage. She used the lighter of the two on the ceiling and the darker on the walls. One thing we did that really added some depth, was to bring the wall color about a foot out onto the ceiling. It gave the ceiling a kind of trayed look and looks quit nice. You might consider the pastel colors. For a light, airy, "springy" sort of a feeling they are great. Glidden used to have a feature on their website where you could import a picture of your rooms and paint them with their colors. I haven't been to their site in a long time but it might be worth a look.
You said your room is small and doesn't have a lot of natural light.
I would paint a nice light yellow.
Not school bus yellow, but not to light.
A bright yet subtle yellow will give it the appearance of being larger than it really is, and what natural light you do have will be enhanced.
I hope this helps, good luck.
