Question:
Answers:
Put a tiny tiny drop of an oil based perfume in the paint it will kill the smell.
Can't remember what it is called but you can get stuff to add to paint to take the smell away. It's a sachet you open and add to the paint. Is it called petal or something like that.
Try a couple of things.
Wear a mask so you don't breathe in mostof the paint fumes. Make sure you open windows. Sometimes it takes days to get the smell out of a house after using this kind of paint. Opening windows helps.
All I can suggest is do it in the morning with the windows open. If the smell of fresh paint gets to you, cut an onion in half and leave it in the room. It will take away most of the smell.
Get a odd job bloke in like myself i only charge £10 per hour
cut an onion into quarters and put one in each corner of the room.dont ask me how but the smell seems to neutralise the paint odour!
The onion trick does work to some extent, but you could try 'low odour' paint - it does what it says on the tin! In any case you should always keep the room well ventilated.
You can buy low odour gloss from any DIY store, I've heard it's really good, if you can't stand the awful smell of ordinary gloss. I'm going to try it as the smell makes me feel sick. Of course it's always wise to turn off the heating and keep windows open during and well after painting to keep the room well ventilated.
B@Q Gloss is brilliant. I have a very bad breathing problem and this doesn't affect me at all. I mean the low odour gloss which is very like emulsion as you can wash your brushes out, and, it also stays white longer than most of the others.
Get a water based paint. hardly any smell at all. If you use normal oil based gloss, ask round for an additive to seriously reduce the smell.
Use an acylic/water based gloss instead... only problem is its very fast drying so limited brush time work fast.. + side there is limited dripping...
