Building a back yard pool house/shed?
Question:Building a back yard pool house/shed?
Ok im 19 and me and my friends are investing in a huge summer project. We are building a pool house/guest house that measures about 220 sq ft. The area we are building this on has a gradual slope so what would be the best type of foundation to use? Any other ideas or suggestions would be great as well. Thank You.

Dude make sure you get a permit from your county building dept. You do not want to get started and have those aholes come by, give you a ticket and make you tear it out. They will also give you standard measurements for the slab and footings, these are where your main posts come up. Hunt around at your local library. Don't get discouraged this stuff is hard but, very rewarding.
If you are going to be putting some kind of flooring down, and depending on what part of the country you live in, I would think cement would be the best foundation for it. You may need to find out if your area requires you to get a permit to build something and what they require the foundation to be made of.
Our pool house, which really just houses the filter, heater and other pool supplies has a wood base with cinder blocks holding up the foundation. It has worked well for us. We also have a shed which we put a cement foundation in, and a gazebo, which also has a wood base/floor with cinder blocks holding it up.
given that this is a pool house and water will be involved, i would strongly recommend that you build a concrete foundation and slab, the structure on top can be whatever you find appealing. concrete is the way to go.
you need to dig and pour your footings first. When that has set up you need to form your slab and pour that. Then you can begin framing on the house. If you pour your footings on Friday you can form and pour the slab sat. and frame it in and have it in the dry sun. evening.
If this is going to need power and plumbing dont forget to sleeve through the footing before you pour and you need to bring them up thru the floor before you pour the floor
