Wanting to redo my room at dads.?

Question:I'm moving into my dads house for when I go to college. My room is over the 2 1/2 car garage. Its really long, and pretty wide. The walls slant about half way up, and the front of the room is a little oddly shaped. My main idea was to just divide the room up a little, the front part be the living room area, then a kitchen type area on the side, and the back have the "bedroom", the problem is theres only one entrance, no windows at all, and theres a fire exit in the floor thats covered with carpet (but able to open). I can send pictures if anyone is creative and would like to just have some fun and look at it. Right now it has a king bed in it, a futon, a bar, and a sofa.

Eventually we wanted to knock out part of the wall, put up a porch, some french doors, and install some windows. But we right now are on a tight budget. So I'm looking for some cheap ideas, or ideas that I can have for a later date.

If you are in the US, check out the show small spaces, big style.

They have lots of great ideas on how to do this. Some things off the top of my head is to use bookshelves as room dividers. Ikea is a great place to look for these.

Multi-functional furniture pieces help as well as mirrors, which can help trick the eye into thinking an area is wider than it actually is (do not apply the mirror to the coved part of the ceiling.)

Hope this helps

You could consider installing a skylight or a couple of windows and you could also consider installing drywall to divide your spaces. Once, you've done that it will be easier to help give you more ideas if you were to choose a theme that you want to go with when decorating. However, drywall and paint are fairly inexpensive and depending on the type of skylight or windows you choose these can be fairly inexpensive as well. Hope this helps a little.
