Does anyone know a cheap and effective way to sound proof a room for band practice?

Question:Live in a apartment complex thinking of sound proofing the storage room need ideas.

Answers:
We have a make-shift recording studio and had to sound proof it ourselves (as you have to make sure that no other sound can come in - it shows up on the recording). We got some sheets of fibreglass and some big cork board panels. We covered them with carpet (we had access to cheap stuff). When we ran out of that, we cut an old foam mattress into thirds (thickness - so it was still the same height and width) and glued it to the other panels and covered it with some cheap fabric so that it didn't get dusty. Our recordings are perfect. You can't even hear the traffic outside. Just try to get the panels to cover as much of the wall as possible. Good luck.

Fabric/rugs on the wall, floor, ceiling.
Talk to the other tenants, let them know when you'll be practicing.
Try putting carpet floors @ on the walls. I think being your in an apartment soundproofing will be extremely hard. You may muffle the sound but I'm sure the music will cause vibrations that will annoy below you. Good luck lol glad I don't live in your building
you can buy this dense black Styrofoam stuff for this purpose exactly. you buy it in rolls but i don't know what its called. hope that helps! oh sometimes its used for packaging!
Most acoustic panels are made from types of fiberglass. You can problably find fiberglass panels from a hardware store, then cover them with some cheap cloth.

A good acoustic panel will be any substance that has air pockets in it (like foam or fiberglass) that will capture the sound
I would try the egg crate material that you sleep on.
put egg cartons on all the walls . cover the walls. then cover the egg cartons with a layer of fabric..about 2 cm distance from the cartons. good luck keep rockin'
