Which would you select?
Question:I went to my remodeled library. They recovered the floors with cork tiles. How did the installer select the tiles from boxes of mismatched colors.
1. Dark tiles in the children's area. Light tiles in the rest.
2. Randomness throughout
3. Light tiles until the first box ran out, then dark with no
particular logical or artistic sense.
4. Graphic patterns
Answers:
Both option 1 and option 2 would be acceptable. Option 4 would be OK, but you would have to pay extra to get that kind of design due to the layout work involved.
I'm guessing that option 3 is what happened. Publicly funded, so lowest bidder gets the job. Often, the lowest bidder cares only about getting done and going to the bank.
If the architect did not expect or specify different colors, there probably were not any specific instructions in the construction documents. Similar situations occur frequently and without something in the contract the library would have no recourse and probably not any money to have it done over.
2. randomness throughout.
I would choose to put different colors in different areas. That would be an easy way for the librarian to tell customers where to go to find the section they want.Random would make me crazy.Graphic patterns may not be the correct pattern for the style of decor.I would want light or bright for the kiddos section, not dark.Hope this helps! Best wishes!
Random throughout, if they don't have enough to finish an area you'll never know.
WAY TO GO on using cork!! It is almost the perfect floor covering!
