There is absolutely no way this question can ever be answered because "better" suggests opinion and opinion is completely subjective. Perhaps it would have been more effective if you had asked, "Do you prefer purple over blue and why?" That gives a person the opportunity to answer and express their opinion more effectively. This way, it is like asking if dogs are better than cats, or boys are better than girls. Do you see the redundancy of your question?

Depends on what the color is being used for.
There is a shade of blue called U.N. blue...united nations blue...because it was voted on by ppl all over the world and is the favorite shade of thousands of ppl. So depending on what you may be doing with the color, UN might be the perfect color & shade.

Funny question, but here goes. No one colour is "better" than another, but one may be better suited for certain applications. If you are asking this as it pertains to decorating, the colour blue would probably be preferable and easier to work and coordinate with in an interior. Purple is not as restful as blue, especially if it has more red than blue in the mix. When polled, people will pick blue over purple when rating their favorite colours. Purple is also a more difficult colour to mix with other colours, while shades of blue are more compatible with a host of other colours. Purple can work well as an accent, in smaller amounts and in accessories. Blues can serve as an overall paint colour as well as an accent.
The bottom line though, is that colour preferences are personal, and there are really no rules of do's or don'ts. If you like purple, then go for it.
