Where can I find affordable furniture for an apartment?
Question:And this may sound dumb(sorry, but I've never moved into a high rise) ,but how am I supposed to furnish(get the furniture in there) my apartment. Aren't they built like hotels kinda? It seems like it would be more difficult that furnishing a home or duplex or something to that effect.

Most stuff will come in boxes & you have to put it together, but it will make getting the stuff up to your apartment so much easier than if you buy things that are already assembled. It's cheaper, too.
spectrum.com\\\\\\\\\\\ great prices
Big Lots, Craigslist.com, thrift stores, eBay. Big Lots has affordable prices, definitely. Wal-Mart has okay stuff sometimes as well.
Have you thought of Craigslist? You can find some really great finds on there if you have the patience. Also search your thrifty nickel, and your local newspaper. Everyone is always downsizing cause they are moving into a smaller place or bought new furniture. Good luck on finding the things to make your place your home. Oh and as far as moving into a high rise I have done it. It's a pain but can be done it justt takes a little more time and an elevator :) I would say hire movers or pay some buddies with a case of beer.
IKEA, Pottery Barn have some great choices. You can also find some great buys at Target. Put your money into a good sofa though. Lazy Boy, Ethan Allen, Thomasville. I know that Ethan Allen has a clearance section at some of its stores which is worth looking into. Make sure that you take your measurements of the stairway and doorway in conjunction with the furniture and bring those dimensions with you. The sales staff will help you out. Sometimes, they will send the delivery man out to check the dimensions before they deliver. Explain your situation to them. The more information that you bring to them, the better. Take some pictures and bring those along. There are standards to the width of hallways and doorways.
And, no, you do not sound dumb at all. There is no dumb question. You are just learning and asked a great question. At least you are thinking ahead of time.
Enjoy your new place. How exciting!
I just moved into a new place and hired some guys to do all of the moving for me. Best idea I've had in a long time! Order a pizza, sit back, and relax while they bring it all in for you. As far as buying inexpensive furniture, check out some of your local thrift stores. You can find very unique furniture at ridiculously low prices. You'll find a lot of junk, but if you take the time to search through it you may stumble upon a treasure. And there's so many options of things you can do to redo the furniture if it's not exactly what you're going for. Good luck! =)
