A new plastering trowel is a nightmare to use, plasterers spend a long time wearing in a trowel to give optimum useability. It is now posiblke to buy worn in trowels, have a look at www.screwfix .co.uk. Expect to pay a premium for a worn in trowel, I prefer a soft grip handle rather than a wooden one.
Spear and Jackson Tyzack range are pretty good, wooden handles better !
Good answer from captainflack2. you can buy worn trowels, ask any plasterer.
i always use marhalltown stainless steel trowells with soft grip handles pre worn ones are better but more expensive.there are also different sizes. my favoured one is 13x5"
try slbm systems for cheap trowels
