Hi, can anyone tell me an easy way to make a scatter cushion cover?

Question:I have some let over fabric from a quilt I made and would like to use that but I have no idea how to make one. Thanks!

Answers:
Lay out the fabric and place the pillow form (cushion) on it. Cut the fabric to make a strip that is wide enough to cover the pillow from side to side, plus about 1". You want it to be fairly snug. The strip should be about 2 3/4 times as long as the pillow. Fold the short edges over about 1/4" - 1/2", then fold again and press. Stitch along the folded edge to finish it. Turn the fabric so the right side is up. Fold one end of the strip down and the other end up so they overlap. Place the pillow on the folded fabric and adjust the folds so they make a square about the same size as the pillow form. Sew along each side, leaving the ends overlapped. Turn right side out, stuff the pillow inside, and adjust the overlapped pieces so they lay flat.

The link below has illustrations for this method (they actually "measure" the pillow and fabric), as well as a couple of other methods.

This is nice because it's easy to remove the cover for washing, you don't need a pattern of any sort, and there is no additional hardware needed (zippers, buttons, velcro, etc.).

Sew a square pocket to size add a zip and hey presto!!
