What colors go best with a dark, dark navy couch?
Question:Our floors are light maple, and our walls are a cream color. What other colors should I use in this room-our living-dining room is combined.
Answers:
If you want a contrasting color, go with yellow.
If you want to stay with a subtle mood, go with cream.
If you want a dramatic mood, do purple.
If you want modern, do a light to slate gray.
I would incorporate a little gold, but not go overboard with it or it will look tacky. Also, any neutrals of course. To liven it up some I would go with bright yellow throw pillows or bright orange.
Clinton & Stacy on "What Not to Wear" are always saying that navy blue is a neutral, meaning you can pair it with anything. Perhaps you could use some vibrant colors, though, because you've got neutral walls and floors as well. It sounds gorgeous - best of luck!
What do you have hanging on the walls? If you have a favorite picture, pick a vibrant color from it for some throw pillows or candles. These are easy to change whenever you want and will add nice touches of color.
Wow... I don't quite know what style your looking for but I actually have a magazine that shows things like glass tables with maple stands and it looks awesome. The lamps on end tables are glass with light colored lamp shades and it has a center piece bowl with large balls that are off white and dark blue. Very elegant.
use a pallet of other blues in the same tone and then choose one very vibrant accent color. While red is a good standard to use with blue how about yellow or green or even go with a purple? If you are unsure of colors go to home depot and get the paint sample books they have. It really shows some good mixes of color and help you feel better if you can see what it really looks like next to each other.
