Any decorating ideas for naturally stained wood?
Question:golden oak stain, I need some ideas for contrast, or complimenting the wood. I have a lot of plants and mostly blue fabrics, medium brown carpet with white walls and a light blue accent wall. Don't know if I should go for POP or a warm homey look.
Answers:
You already have enough blue and browns. You might try a third color to make you color scheme work.To contrast you would need yellow or orange or bronze/brass.That would pop and be homey! You need to do 60% one color which is usally the wall color(blue),30% for furniture, drapes(oak wood&floors), and 10% for accessories such as flowers, frames,nick-knacks,pillows,... .paintings with the main color being the 10% color you have chosen. The bronze/goldish colors would be great for your 10%.You could also put a border around your blue wall with brown or the goldish color to warm the blue color some. That will make it more homey also.If your curtains are blue you could add a band of the goldish color to warm them also.It will give you room a finished look.Best wishes!
you should certainly go for a homey look....what does a home means if it doesn't look homey right?? You can look for some wood decorations...You know, you can set it off with a cozy bali wood style...it would look nice. You can also change the blue fabric into a bronze coloured fabric or just put a soft look on with ivory white or creamy white... It might make it look really out standing if you use red for the fabric too. You can look for some wood decorations such as an end table with beautiful copper details...
with golden oak stain you are pretty well locked into the homey look.
i would go with the homey look that way when you have visitor they can feel at home. but maybe you should get rid of the purple it sounds as it throws the room off. but the blue is a great color and if you like any of these ideas let me know im thinking about getting a degree for interior design
