Concrete Sealers?
Question:My wife and I are remodeling a house that we recently purchased. The problem is that the people that lived there before owned many cats. Well, the cats urinated everywhere, and the smell was overwhelming in the house. We removed all the carpet and existing flooring. We have also scrubbed the floors w/bleach and other cleaners. We would like to know which is the very best concrete sealer that we can use in the house to seal in the smell on the concrete floor? Also, does anyone have any other ideas of how to seal the smell so that our house no longer smells of cat urine? Any help would be appreciated!
Answers:
It is not so much what kind of concrete sealant you use, but how many coats you apply. A sealant works by reducing the pores in the concrete, which are off gassing the cat urine smell.
Try applying three thin coats using a low matt paint roller.
Mix bleach and pine sol. I wouldn't seal until the smell is gone. Then there is really no need to seal.
