What is the best material for kitchen flooring?
Question:I want it all - durable, easy to clean, reasonbly priced, attractive. What's you recommendation?
Answers:
A lot depends on what you've got now.
Tile, whether it's ceramic, porcelain, or stone, is going to last the longest and be easiest to clean and maintain. It's not very expensive, but labor to install it is (unless you do it yourself).
Vinyl is the most common material for kitchen floors. You can use sheet vinyl or vinyl tiles, but your existing floor may dictate whether you need underlayment, floor preparation, or other work/material before you can install vinyl.
Wood is nice in upscale houses, but it's a material that doesn't like to get wet and stay wet. If you've got kids that spill a lot, it may not be a good option.
Laminate flooring is also vulnerable to moisture, but it's more affordable than wood, easier to install, and cleans well. It'll also last pretty long.
As with anything, you need to make trade-offs and consider your individual situation.
Ceramic tile is the most expensive but the most durrable and longest lasting. best investment
clay or ceramic tiles.some like linoleum too.good luck
Tile
interlocking wood/Formica flooring a little on the expensive side but worth the price on looks and cleaning.
