Why is it that when i burn my incense it smells like burining wood and not like the scent of the coating?

Question:

Answers:
The oil has evaporated and the smell is now coming from the wooden stick, not the coating. Many people will tell you to use incense like an air freshener by leaving it out in the open air. But, over time that causes the oil that gives you the scent when you burn it to evaporate. It can even happen with old inventory in stores when incense is packaged in celophane and cardboard.

Could youu be burning your insense on the wrong end?

They might be old, or poorly made.
