Room makeover!!??

Question:does anyone have any good tips on giving rooms a make-over?
My cousin wants a new room, and I am redoing it. We can't buy any furniture. We can go to the dollar store for stuff. We can't buy expensive stuff either. Does anyone know any good sites or tips to do that??

Answers:
Try diy.com or HGTV.com. I watch HGTV alot to get ideas!

The cheapest way to change the look of a room is to paint the walls with a new color besides white! Even if you don't paint all the walls, paint one wall just for impact.

Pick a theme, or colors you like and just go with it. Furniture doesn't have to be in the same wood shades anymore, you can have different ones in the same room, or you can sand the furniture and paint it all one color to uniform the look. If you sew or know someone who does you can make a duvet cover for a comforter & lots of pillows. For material buy some cheap sheets. You could also make curtains out of sheets. Just take a couple of inches of stitching out of the end of the top & slide it on a rod.

Have fun with it! How about a beachy room, or an Asian room, or Morrocan, or butterflies & flowers. Pick out whatever you like, the only limit is your imagtination!

Good luck!

Well you can do the dollar stores. They have some neat things in there for cheap. If you have a goodwill around? You can find some neat things there also for cheap. Also try garage sales. Does she want a theme or what?? I would move around the furniture that she does have in there. Take down the old wall decorations and any of decorations that she might have in there. If the room was dark before i would make it brighter. If it was brighter before i would go with darker colors.

I hope this helps!
Take a day and hit garage sales. Have a to scale map of the room. Measure pieces pieces you like, and see if they fit your sceam. Never pay the price listed, always ask for a lower price while holding cash in plain sight. Good luck.
Find an image of a room that you want to immulate. Use magazines, or find one on the internet.

Then using what is in your home, garage storage, and from second hand, and thrift stores copy the basic look substituting the more expensive items with thing s that have similer shapes and colors. Expect to paint. Purchase color matched paint at Wal-Mart .

A big change to any room is window coverings. You can make your own sheer on drapes very easily. Look for "How to" books at Wal-Mart as well drapery fabric at a very good price, about $5 a yard. If you want blinds there are very good prices for instore cut to order blinds at Home depot for vinyl and wood.

Another good idea are fabrics from Large table cloths. If you have to just pin the table cloths onto drapery hardware.
