How do you distress cabinets & then paint them-leaving the edges natural??
Question:
Answers:
For a faded distress look use clorox bleach to pull out the stain. Painters tape will protect the edges.
I think that is the distress you are looking for, a sort of lightened wood look.
when u say distress do u mean hammered & beaten or r u talking about making something new look old? There is a bit of a difference unless u'r going for that real beat up look.
One treat is waxing the edges that u want to show thru the paint. The paint won't adhere to it. Esp after u go back over w/ a lite sand paper. I've done that w/ real wood as well as pressed board
I am a painting contractor and distressed to us means beaten or hammered , I have used hammers , and chains .they are the two most popular...but I have used many different things to distress cabinets.do this before you stain them and all of the dents made by the hammer will stain darker than the rest of the cab, the trick is to space your dents out so you are not too concentrated in any given area .
