Does anyone have decorating ideas for a billiards room?
Question:I have decided to put a pool table in my loft. I cannot decide how to decorate around it though. I am leaning towards the standard green felt, and would like it to feel something like a bar atmosphere. I have a flat screen HDtv to work with and i'm thinking about mounting it on the wall. What else would be good to put in the loft? If you have any websites you have purchased pool equipment from or bar settings from feel free to list those as well. Oh yeah, I have 5 windows on one wall to work with. Thanks

there is a sleek ultra skinny pool table that looks super modern and it was featured on tv. it's quite expensive but it looks fabulous because it's not bulky and it looks very young and in-your-face. sorry but i don't remember the name of the manufacturer. you can google "iwantthat" which was the name of the show on the fine living channel. how about adding a dart board to the room too?
What about a warm camel brown/tan. and wood accents to go with the green of the pool table. It willl look cleaner and classier longer. You can bring in the green with a plaid or a pattern (even a texture) on curtains too or just screen them with plantations or such. Old game boards are cool for the walls. You can even buy new ones and antique them with an acrylic clearcoat with alittle umber bown (chocolate) to tint it-brush it on and dab it off with a rag. Use headless nails to put up. Check out HGTV and DIY and also Discovery Home channwels sites-they all have great refferal photos.
Try hanging some pics of Jakie Gleason and Paul Newman from the movie The Hustler and try a restaruant supply store for a bar table and a couple of chair. You know the old formica tables! and you may try some string light bellowing back and forth from the ceiling and you may be able to work with some Christmas tree bulbs hanging from the walls and ceiling. They look like pool balls. try putting vinyl numbers on then too.
Some good decorative art would be old gameboards. Look in flea markets,/yard sales for old parcheesi boards, checker boards, backgammon, etc. The older ones have a vintage look that look good grouped on a wall. A working dart board could be fun too; and would go along with the bar/pub idea you have. You may want to look at art.com or allposters.com for some inexpensive posters that feature Guinness or other drink brands. Some of those posters are colorful and artistic as well. I recently saw some dishes and glassware that were decorated with facecards (spades, hearts, diamonds, clubs) at Bed, Bath and Beyond and also at Hobby Lobby and Home Goods Store. You have a lot of options. You could have a lot of fun decorating your loft. Choose what makes you happy.
got some great answers, check around at garage sales for the old bar signs, mirrors, lights...people are always redecorating and i see them all the time..also, check ebay..they have tons of stuff..even for the old bar table and chairs/stools..salvation army or thrift stores are cool to discover the stuff you need. for the windows, bamboo rollup shades..they can be spray painted any color, they look cool..
good luck
