Is there a non-toxic type of spackling?

Question:Today I used a lightweight spackling on the walls in my bedroom to fill in nail holes so that I can paint. However, sanding it caused some dust to be spread around, and now I'm worried about the health effects that will have. I did wear a mask, but I don't think it was the right kind. Plus I forgot to close one of my a/c vents. Could this limited use of spackling cause much health problem now or in the future? Are there other types out there that are less likely to cause health problems?
Thanks!
