If you have the funds-check out PBteen (pottery barn) excellent just for ideas. Prices a bit high but good products. IKEA also has good ideas and products, some online,some instore. I got my son a warm oak sleigh bed with ironwork scrolling in ends, oak chest of drawers and nightstand from a large retailer that stained it to my taste-it was given a slightly distressed look and its been great! Going on 8 years now and he's 19. If it gets scratches, I can touch it up easily and with a queen bed it grew with him in style. Right now he has denim with it and a back wall of grasscloth with his computer/anime stuff-very simple to clean too.
