Are you talking about a hammock style bed? Or do you envision a floating platform, suspended from golden chains?
Whatever your idea, understand you are going to have to tap into the ceiling joists to get something strong enough to support your bed, bedding and you. And maybe a friend.
A lot of what we see in films, magazines, etc, is either a mock-up for a story or a very expensive decorator design.
Even a hammock is hard to hang in a regular house because the wooden studding is not designed to support horizonal stress. If you are serious and have the bucks to spend, call a contractor or interior design firm and have them do the work. Other wise you may find yourself laying on the floor with all kinds of wall board on top of you. This is not a do-it-yourself project. Trust me. Why not just paint some clouds on the ceiling and drape some netting around. Maybe some Christmas lights for fun.

You might ask someone at a home improvement / hardware store. You would need a very sturdy support to hang it from or attach it very securely to the ceiling beam.
You would have to buy or build a platform to support your mattress and evenly distribute the weight with chains to hang it from.
I wouldn't think that you wouldn't want it real high off the floor or someone could get hurt if they fell off. You just want it high enough so you could feel the light swinging sensation.

i would hang chains from the ceiling itself... maybe make a nice sturdy base that comes from the ground like a transparnt box and hang the chains from that.
