Crafty solution to covering a ceiling fan for dimming the light?
Question:At my reception site we have about 8 ceiling fans with 4 globe style lights on each fan. There are no dimmers on the fan lights, so I am thinking about putting some type of material over the lights to dim them. Do you think that would look good? Do you have any suggestions? Have you ever done something like this and do you have pictures? I need idea's!
Thanks

Well putting something "ON" the globes in not usually a good idea (fire hazard and all) plus anything loose can get grabbed by the fan. I would suggest trying different lightbulbs. You can start by using lower wattage bulbs, and even mixed colored ones (light pastels not the kind from Spencers). Also there is a kind that are mirrored on the round part but frosted on stem (a lot of resuraunts use them in booth lighting) that provide nice ambient light but not a direct glaring light in peoples faces.
Good Luck
Could be a fire hazard. You might want to check with your local fire department just to make sure so you don't get a big fine.
What about unscrewing or removing the light bulbs to acheive the desired effect? Leave 1 or 2 on in each light, or unscrew all the bulbs in 1/2 the light fixtures.
I would not recommend putting anything on the globe itself, that is an extreme fire hazard!
