I have hunter green carpet in a bedroom, what color paint can I use.I didn't really want to use lite green.
Question:I don't want it loud but soft. I want to make it look bigger. Thanks
Answers:
It is a myth that painting a light color makes a room look larger. It's high contrast that makes a room look smaller. So if you have a dark green carpet and you put white on the walls and then have dark wood furniture in front of it - that's a high contrast between the carpet, furniture and the walls. Keep the walls in at least a med tone to keep the contrast down. Personally I would go with a brown or tan.
Orangey / Peachy shades go well with dark green or you could just be boring and use cream or white!!
Rooms look larger with lighter paint. With green carpet, I would use an oatmeal color (light tan/dark cream). You can either paint the trim the same color, or a couple shades darker.
Maybe a light purple.
In my opinion I think a lite tan would be good. Brown is a nutrual color so lite tan should blend well with the carpet. Make it dark enough to know it's a tannish color but lite enough to feel warm and open the room up. This is just my opinion. I actually have hunter green walls and lite tan carpet in my office. Good luck and hope you find the color you love.
Burgundy, rose or creme shades
There are several shades of beige that work with hunter green and open up a room.
If you're looking for something a little more unusual, you can go with a dark green base coat and use a light metallic color (silver) as a faux finish (color washing or sponging). I did that in our den and it turned out really cool.
Cream or if you really want it to look nice( It would be dark) a red would look nice.
i also have hunter green carpet and have painted my walls toasted almond, and trim is painted meeting house, which is a shade of white. it used to be schoolbus yellow, which was to ugly to look at.
amber
I would use a camel color or cream on the walls - then I'd add a nice border with the other "jewel" tones to go with it - blue, green, burgundy,
off white, or ivory
I have the same color carpet in my living room, and have painted the walls a soft brownish/beige color (kind of the color of a cardboard box, but a bit lighter)
You could also accent with a lighter shade of green (Maybe stenciled leaves or something around the top edge?)
Good Luck!
I have this same color in the bedroom carpet, and I am presently using a lavender type wall. I have used a peach wall in the past. I think peach looked better though.
Hi, I find that all colors go with dark green. I especially like any of the pinks from hot to just barely. All shades of yellow are also nice. If you want the earth, sky feel (always spacious) soft blue is great. These are all colors I have painted with different shades of green.
Checked the answers you've received so far. I'm surprised that no one suggested variations of yellow. It would "open up" the room, as well as going perfectly with your dark Hunter Green carpeting.
Then stay lite, like beige, pale yellow,or pale pink. They all go with green...
I hate green and when I bought my house, there was hunter green carpet in my bedroom and not much extra money to change that. So I painted the walls "Sand" which is a rich tan color and it is beautiful! I almost cried!
I put a Leopard spotted border around the room, animal print bedding and lots of tropical green plants. The room feels like a jungle.
I love it.
Well, one thing's for sure: stay away from any colors that have red or orange in them as this will make your green carpet scream out!
I use a web site for choosing paint colors that has amazing choices. Now I know you don't want to use light green (I am guessing you are thinking of hospital green or mint green and I agree). There are however, some really nice light greens that would make your room soft and airy and big. Here is the link for my website for paint colors. I suggest the color named Aloe essence. Your room will have a monochromatic theme and will appear larger because of it.

Well first of all ... what are the linens on your bed .. what colors do they have. A burnt orange might not sound good but if you had a rug with green, brown, red, and dark orange... with Creme and beige blanketts. with the orange accent pillows.. it would match...
I would suggest go find an an area rug that you like... you know the old looking oriential rugs... you can find them at walmart.. have lots of colors in them... espically that hunter green. the pick a another color you find in the rug to tie it together... use the 60-30-10 Rule...
60% Dominant Color... ( Walls)
30%Secondary Color... (Carpet)
10% Accent Color.. Pillows and art
try this site. thats where I got the rule from and you can hover a color and it will give u 2 other colors that match!
