How to calculate sq ft of stairs?
Question:
Answers:
Measure the height of the riser and the depth of the step. Add these two figures together and multiply by the number of steps.
Measure the width of the stairway and multiply by the number achieved above and you will have stairwell square footage or surface area. If you have a landing part way up, you will need to add the surface area of that, also.
The same way you would flat floor, but multiply times 2, because you have the rise of the step too. I hope you are talking about carpet. Get on google if you need extra help because that's all I know to tell ya!
Dear Amateur Wood Worker---If you do not know how to do that is figure square feet. Call a professional and let him do the job. Less painful on your part and less cost. Just write a check when it is done. Or leave the stairs alone that you are trying to replace. You could lower the value of the house--all depends on if it is a Victorian -- take out the stairs and lower the value of an original home by $25,000
