I don't know your location. But here in L.A, we have several large outlets that sell furniture and carpet, all in fabulous condtion, that was used in major hotels. You can often get huge bolts of carpeting at these places. Also,check your local stores to see about returns/exchanges that you can get for much less... I'm sure they've had cases of people getting the whole house done,living with it for a couple weeks, then deciding "it just isn't what they want after all" and exchanging it for a shade or two different.
are you sure you want to do that? Even cleaned those used carpet could bring unwanted bugs in your home. A friend of my did that and brought bed bugs home.

Why in the world would you want to buy used carpet of all things? That is just nasty! Its like sharing a toothbrush. Did you know that used carpet is full of dust mites, human skin, and all of the dust from the previous location? Thats just nasty, even I wouldn't do that and I'm filthy!
If you could see the carpet taken out of places --- smelly---dirty--you are not gona put that junk anywhere but the city dump. Carpet is cheap. Buy New. Same yourself a lot of problems. If it was good why would it be taken out for anyone to buy used.

i don't think you need to pay for it... people might even pay you to take used carpets off their hands. a lot of people usually leave their's on the curb for pick up. maybe drive around your neighborhood? a good place may be subdivisions that are 1-2 years old usually people want to get rid of their builder installed carpets.
