I heard somewhere that you shouldn't burn dark colored candles if you own your house. Does anyone know why?
Question:I think it caused some kind of problem??
Answers:
The soot from the wax may cause black stains above or around where the candle was lit. Try soy candles...a bit more expensive, but no soot.
Sounds like voodoo.I've owned my own house all my adult life.I've burnt candles of every color,a wood fireplace, cigarettes, and numerous kitchen disasters.Upkeep such as repainting and cleaning are just part of the pride of ownership.
It sounds like a superstition to me. I wouldn't worry about it, just be sure the candles are at least 2-3 feet away from anything flammable, and keep the wicks on the candles trimmed like you would for a kerosene lamp. If the wicks are too long they will cause black sooty smoke, if the are a bit shorter you'll be fine.
Hmmm this is a new one, I am a chandler I make and burn candles constantly for testing I burn all kinds of colors, scents waxes and wicks and have never seen or heard of a problem with dark colors. I think you maybe referring to soot this is caused from improper wicking of a candle or a candle made with cheaper ingredients. The only suggestion I have is to purchase candles from a reputable chandler and you should not run into any problems as long as you properly burn your candle always follow the manufactures or chandlers instruction when burning a candle ie ~ caution labels.
