You need to use Zinseer"s "JOMAX" comes ready mixed in a bottle now, spray it on and walk away cause with a popcorn ceiling you can't wipe it or the texture will come off, DON"T saturate it either, just a few quick sprays, Good luck Les the painter, your best bet would be after you've killed the mildew prime the ceiling with a quick dry oil based primer/sealer and the finish coat with a eggshell enamel so future wiping won't be a problem
Try bleachwater. I don't know how much, you'll have to reasearch it on the internet.
Put on preferably a face mask and old cap as well as old clothes and use a spray such as Tilex which is a strong bleach. This should kill the mold and whiten your ceiling.
Try TSP. It comes in a pre-mixed liquid or a powder that you mix. It will kill all mold and brighten the color. Any hardware store should carry it. Also, use kills primer after to keep the mold from returning. (if you can)
