I Need Some Helpful Hints...?
Question:I am currently undergoing a room re-do, and I wanted to paint my walls. Thing is, I want each wall to be something different. Like, polka dots on one wall, and stripes on the other. Any ideas?
Answers:
woooo less is best paint the walls a neutral color and then add decorative accents such as pic's or posters
I would suggest that you have a solid wall, for accent, and paint the other three walls different colors to compliment the accent wall. Make sure your accent wall is darker than the rest though. You could paint the other walls the same color and put different colored polka dots on the walls or stripes.
Paint one wall with the new magnetic paint so that you can hang letter magnet with maybe your name or pictures on it.
Paint one wall with chalkboard paint and use colored chalk to write on it
Paint one wall with polka dots the color of your magnetic paint
My thought is paint your walls all the same color - or with in two shades of each other. Say two light green, two lighter or a shade darker.
Then you can mix and match patterns if you keep them in the same color family. Using the green example say pale purple dots, a shade darker for stripes and one with squiggly's, one plain. Then add lavendar gingham pillows, purple fabric with white polka dots for curtains (or white trimmed with purple/white dot ribbon). Something like that. Or keep your walls plain with a purple fabric border with white dots (starch it up) and use the other rooms fabrics to bring in the prints.
Or you can go with white/cream/light sand walls and more color. Still I would pick one main and accent with the others.
Do a chair rail and lean fun prints on top of it.

Hope that helps.
1] polka dots - got it [ maybe as bubbles?]
2] stripes - got it
3] flowers - like '60s daisies
4] handprints - yours
5] frame all your art or photos in same color as decor for other walls
6] lines of waves ~~~~~~~~~~
7] one wall - flower garden; second - forest; third - beach; or other favorite places
8] checks - like gingham
9] textures - like sponging, leather, etc.
Try to keep in a small color family - like three main colors; or you may never get to sleep!
My dad once wallpapered a room with pink and blue stripes on 2 walls and elves on a blue background on the other 2. I thought it was pretty cool, but I was three. He also painted the living room ceiling chartreuse, with coca brown walls. There's no accounting for taste, so do as you please.
