Looking for bedding on a budget! Where can I go?

Question:I am making over my bedroom and really want to replace my bedding with a more romantic and sexy pattern. Unfortunately, I don't know a thing about thread count. I believe the higher the number, the softer the fabric? What is the MINIMUM I should consider? I am on a budget - where should I go? Would TJ Max, Home Goods, or Target/Walmart be good alternatives? Please help! I am lost.

Honestly, I don't pay much attention to thread count when choosing. Why? Most people will tell you that the higher the thread count the better, but personally, I've always liked lower thread count sheets.

If you have a Kmart near you, the Martha Stewart bedding line is fabulous. Good quality, good prices and a lot of coordinating patters.

If you want to spend a little more money, the best sheets I've found are called Beachwood? Beachtree? Sorry, I can't remember, but you can get them at Bed Bath and Beyond. They're soft, but cool at the same time. I normally stay away from higher thread count, softer sheets because they get really warm and aren't very comfortable in the summer time, but these are fabulous.

Another thing, sometimes TJ MAXX has GREAT sheets on clearance, but it's hit and miss, so keep an eye out for a good deal. I just bought some sheets that were regularly $199.00 for $39 bucks.

You can also check ebay. I really like these Indian bed spreads I see on there often. They're thin instead of being all fluffly and bulky and they look great, would probably go well with your romantic/sexy room feel.

Overstock.com has great deals, too.

Another pointer, go the library and check out Martha Stewart's new book. It's all about housekeeping and maintenance and it has a great section on bedding, thread counts and whatnot. If you're library doesn't have it, stop by Border's or Barnes and Nobles and just take a quick look through it since you're just looking at one section and jot down some notes. I think it's a great book to buy, though!

Yes, you are correct -- also better quality. You can also try overstock.com
I love Ross.,TJ Maxx and other places like that. YOu can get high quality bedding for half the price. Alot of its name brand as well. We have RL bedding.
You should go to Bed, Bath N Beyond or, Linens and Things, or Pier One and ask them for advice on thread count and color themes first. Most of those places have clearance items that might suit you but if not you can always go to Walmart for cheaper stuff.
The minimum you should consider is 350 thread count. Try Tuesday Morning. Do not buy sheets from Target, TJ Max or Kmart, they bead.
TJ Maxx would be a great place to go. You may have to go back a couple of times before you find exactly what you are looking for, but they have some wonderful deals. As far as thread count. I have some wonderful sheets that I got from QVC (Northern Nights) and they are 300 plus thread count. They are soft as silk. I personally would not go below a count of 220. Anything below that and the sheets start to feel rough. JC Penny has some nice sheets also.
Girl, go to
www.overstock.com

I bought a down comforter and duvet there it was high quality, high threadcount and it was dirt cheap. They have awesome stuff, very pretty and well worth checking out. I would go here before Target or Walmart because you can get a much higher quality set for less money than you would pay in the stores. I am a very satisfied customer.
Yup, higher the number softer the fabric! Well if you would consider buying on-line I recommend Overstock.com, but if you want to actually go somewhere and buy them then you should go to Ross or TJ, they tend to have good brands at a lower price. Another thing that came to mind was, find your local consignment store. (they sell all the stuff from model homes) find out when they are going to be receiving new stuff and go there. They have really nice stuff!
Good Luck!
Overstock.com seems to have some really good prices, but, you don't get to check them out ahead of time. I'm not familiar with the Martha Stewart line at K-Mart but I like her patterns. I think you can find great buys at Tuesday Morning, Home Front, TJMax, Ross' and Marshall's, but it's hit & miss. I believe higher the thread count is normally better, but I've read that it's not always true! I just bought a set of 540 tc pima cotton sheets for my guest room at Costco for about $65. Haven't used them yet, but the sample at the store seemed very nice. Check out Costco!
