What are the differences between Du Pont Corian and LG Hi-MACS?

Question:Although both are solid surface, is there a difference in quality, price, etc? I am planning to use them for my kitchen top.

Both products are solid surfacing material.

Price will vary from one fabricator to the next, but Corian is generally more expensive when comparing similar patterns.

DuPont of course claims that their product is superior. Several other manufacturers claim their product is just as good or better. The "scientific" data that is available is hard to interpret.

In practical terms, I have sold several different brands including the two mentioned, and I honestly do not see any difference in the materials. The fabricator is more important and contributes much more to the finished product in terms of quality than the actual materials.

Find a fabricator or designer that you are comfortable with. Ask for references. Pick the color you love from any of the manufacturers and go for it.
