Any other color to add with a gray bedroom besides Turquoise?
Question:I am painting my bedroom a soft gray, planning on having turquoise tiffany bedside lamps, the furniture is light oak, any other ideas for colors for assessories?
Answers:
Ideally, to have complete color harmony in a room, you need to have 3 colors: 1 dominant (the paint color on the walls), 1 medium (the trim color) and 1 accent color (the decorative objects such as your lamps). When decorating and using paint, white is not considered a color but the absence of all color (which is why is looks good with all colors) and black is also not considered a color but the mixture of all colors (that is also why it looks good with every color). There must be some black in every room to ground all the colors together.
I like the turquoise with the soft gray. Since your furniture is oak, that's another color. I would continue with the turquoise color but perhaps in different shades of it (think cushions, vases, some turquoise in a painting. The other color I would add is a darker charcoal gray. So basically, your room would be soft gray, charcoal gray and turquoise in at least 3 different shades of it. You can add a few hints of white here and there.
Enjoy your new room! It'll look fantastic!
Green?
burgandy or forest green
maroon
A deep maroon would be very nice.
white,deep maroon,green
a green ( lime or hunter) depending on the darkness of the grey
Rose.
Sharon, gray? Ugh. As a former navy wife, gag me. I think it would be better used as an acent, maybe.
Various shades of yellow, greens, pinks, reds, blacks . . . gray is actually an easy color to work with, especially the soft gray you chose.
A soft pink or egg shell color
What about adding some navy blue to the mix? I never would have thought to put turquoise with grey, but it sounds relaxing. Perfect in a bedroom!
Go to the craft store or paint store and ask for a color wheel, the wheel will show you the coordinating colors that you can use or contrast color that you might want to use.
with soft gray wall you can generally use any color scheme you may want. I think if you want to keep the room relaxing and sedate then go for creme colors to soft brown, or even some pink shades.
With the bold color it may be too exciting to go to sleep.
pale coral or peach, unless you want to favor the turquoise then go with a pale jade or seafoam green
pink, the outside of my house is a taupe/gray with black and white. My pink flowers look spectacular with the gray.
Depending on whether you want a softer look or a bolder, more colorful look. For the softer look, I'd recommend a pretty rose; for bolder look either burgandy, bits of lime green as a "spark", or my favorite is dark brown with turquoise . It's "in" right now & I love it! Check out the Restoration Hardware & Pottery Barn catalogs. p.s. If you haven't already purchased the paint, you might want to check out RH's paint colors - I just painted my room silver sage & it's beautiful. They also have some lighter shades. I had mine mixed at Kelly Moore at half the price.
Pink, Yellow, or Purple would be nice.
mauve or burgundy would give it some color and look good together.I have some paisley curtains that have mauve, teal turquoise, green ,gold ,burgundy and a little black and they are very pretty.
