Dark purple and Red together on living room walls?
Question:I am painting my living room alternate colors on the opposite walls. I've chosen a deep purple and a blood red. Do you think this is a good combo? I want a dark, moody look. What else can I do for this?
ALSO, how do you paint bricks on a fireplace? I saw it on TLC, I think they used a glaze, since the fireplace had so much white mortar on the bricks...?

Those colors together are beautiful but very avant garde and not easy on the eyes. Are you an artist? For the fireplace, a simple white paint (wash) applied with a roller would work fine. If in doubt, go to Home Depot and they will help you.

It does sound seriously heavy and ominous. You'll need great indirect lighting to pull this color combo off. --Are you sure you can live with these colors without getting depressed?
