What is the easiest way to remove wallpaper?

Question:someone hung paper over decorative drywall, added border paper then painted over that. when trying to remove this mess i end up peeling the raw drywall paper as well. i was using a rag soaked w/ hot water to loosen then a razor knife to pull away the loose paper.

Answers:
Score the paper, use a steamer to loosen it, and peel it off. Hot water is just too messy and ineffective to use over large areas.

The easiest way is to date a decorator let him do the work then dump him .easy :-)
Get a garden sprayer and fill it with water. Poke small holes in the wall paper with a fork or some thing similar. Spray the wall with the water (Do not soak the wall). The wall paper will begin to loosen as it soaks up the water. This will take som time but the wall paper will come off without tearing up your drywall. Been hanging wall paper a long time and this works best.

Rent a wall paper steamer/remover. If your going to paint over the wall when you remove the paper, let the wall dry completely.
You may have to sandpaper the wall before painting to remove the wallpaper glue residue.
go to your local lowes or home depot i bought a steamer for 60-80 dollars worked wonders, i have used everything under the sun i think the brand i have is wagner and for the spots where the first layer of paper have peeled off use some puddy\spackling compound just skim the surface then sand .
