Decorating my room in a Moroccan style. Help!?
Question:I'm actually moving and my room is covered in an awful wallpaper with a disgusting flowery trim at the top, that would cost way too much money to get rid of. Any clever ideas to cover it up/alter it? I have some other ideas for the room, but does anyone know of any cool sites with creative ideas (which aren't very pricey)?
Answers:
Wallpaper is very easy to remove just check out different websites for info but I used hot water in a spray bottle and sprayed it till it was damp and peeled it off. Then go to a local hardware store and look for the "mess-up" paints". They are usually really cheap and you can repaint the room a color that would blend you Moroccan style a lot better then trying to incorporate the ugly wallpaper.
You can do cheesecloth, takes a lot of time but the room comes out really nice. My old room in my condo was done this way it like a mango orange color, cane out really nice. You can buy the cheesecloth at any retial store like Wal-Mart, they even have it in the grocery stores.
Try that really cheap see-throughy gift wrap tissue.
Take one piece at a time, apply wallpaper past to the existing paper, carefully place the tissue on the paste, and push it around for a few wrinkles. Lay the next piece next to it. Lather, rinse, repeat. For less than 10 bucks you can get really far.
It will have a mild block effect from the squares, and you could paint it a natural clay or stucco color for a rustic looking Morrocan wall. Decorate it with ethnic art, or stencil a traditional Morrocan pattern around a cool rug-wallhanging. Don't forget to hang a few tin-punched lanterns and chuck some snazzy pillows on the floor!
